Keeping in view the need for a focused approach on capacity development in the area of climate finance among the stakeholders, NABARD has taken the lead in establishing the Centre for Climate Change (CCC) at BIRD, Lucknow in July 2018.
The objectives of the Centre are extending professional support to stakeholders for designing climate related projects & developing their capacities; and taking up collaborative studies and action research projects in the area of climate change.
Stakeholder consultations were organised by the CCC and the priority areas identified are: mapping of climate change hot spots, identification of investment areas, sectoral collaboration, and collaboration with institutes of international repute, development of a knowledge portal, case studies, etc. A state-of of-the-art learning lab and classroom are being set up in the centre.
GIZ as the knowledge partner has extended support to establish Centre of Excellence for Capacity Development on Climate Finance as part of Centre for Climate Change.
To be a Centre of Excellence on Climate Change with focus on channelising and mainstreaming of Climate Finance for adaptation and mitigation action.
Building human capacity to address the Climate Change adpatation and mitigation needs through awareness cretaion, knowledge sharing, training, capacity building, policy advocacy, advsiory, action research and consultancy services.

Journey so far..
In line with its objective, CCC has been conducting training programs on climate change projects development, green financing, impact assessments and gender mainstreaming. Since launching in July 2018, 317 participants attended 13 training programmes conducted by CCC. The participants included government departments, NGOs and banks. As part of Centre of Excellence for Capacity Development on Climate Finance in partnership with GIZ; new training modules, learning lab and learning classroom are in the execution phase.
